To find out more about each application, read below.
  • Crabgrass Preventer (6-step) - The best way to control crabgrass is to prevent it. Crabgrass is an annual weed popping up from seed every year, so having a preemergent granular down in the early spring is important to keeping the crabgrass away! It will also control other annual weeds that pop up in the spring. (Read More: https://blogs.k-state.edu/turf/tag/crabgrass/)
  • Weed and Feed w/ Iron (6-step) - This common application controls any broadleaf weeds that pop up in the spring, especially dandelions. Since dandelions are a perennial and pop up from existing roots, there is no preventative control. The iron will help it green up quicker and keep a good, deep color throughout the year.
  • Liquid Preemergent w/ Dandelion Control - This application, often done as the weather is warming up, will give extended control of crabgrass. Weather events can delay the germination of crabgrass.
  • Grub Control w/ Summer Fertilizer (6-step) - An overabundance of grubs can cause serious turfgrass damage. They feed on the roots during the summer months. It’s impossible to eradicate grubs completely, so a yearly application to keep them under control can be very important in this area. Some companies split this application and charge double!
  • Grassy and Broadleaf Weed Control (6-step) - Nutgrass is a common summer grassy weed seen in wet areas. If you pull the grass out by hand, you are actually spreading ‘nutlets’ that will pop up later in the season and next year. Despite the long-anticipated production of preemergent chemicals to control nutgrass, the best way to control the weed is with a summer spray, or sometimes two.
  • Fall Weed Control - Fall is the best time to control broadleaf weeds to ensure they don’t pop up again next year. Perennial weeds have heavy root growth in the fall. This means the active ingredients in the pesticide are more effective this time of year..
  • Winter Weed Preemergent - Henbit and chickweed are ugly weeds that show up in your lawn during the winter and are noticeable in the spring. Like crabgrass, they are annual weeds. This means the best control is preventative with a fall preemergent application.
  • Fall Turf Builder (6-Step) - The best time to apply nitrogen to your lawn to promote strong root growth is the fall. A healthy lawn benefits most from a fall fertilizer. (read more: https://www.johnson.k-state.edu/lawn-garden/agent-articles/lawns/fertilizing-cool-season-lawns.html)
  • High Nitrogen Winterizer (6-Step)- This helps the lawn green up quickly in the spring without causing excessive shoot growth that is often an effect of a spring fertilizer. In our opinion, this is the single most important application of the year, to help your turfgrass establish a root system that will help it flourish for years to come. Premium Lawn Applications (These applications will incur a higher price, than the common applications above)
  • PGR Root Enhancer - Can help reinvigorate turfgrass, in areas that are thin due to shade or other environmental affects. It also controls growth during the growing season, to keep the lawn under control and increase the root mass for hot summers.
  • Brown Patch/Dollar Spot Preventer - If you have an irrigation system, and like to use it in the summer, these applications may be necessary. It’s not possible to reverse the damage done by fungus, so it’s important to prevent it in areas where it can cause a lot of damage. These areas include heavily irrigated or naturally moist areas with low winds and high heat. Most summers, two preventative treatments are required, timed 2-4 weeks apart.
  • Lime/Sulfur - Lime or sulfur helps solve common pH issues in the lawn. Most grasses prefer a soil that is slightly acidic. A soil test/pH test would be necessary to see what your lawn pH is currently.
  • Flea and Tick (2 rounds) - If you have children or pets, this would be a good idea for you!
  • Aeration - Aeration is very important, especially in our heavy clay soils. If nothing else, a yearly or bi-yearly aeration will do wonders for your lawn. In heavy traffic areas, yearly is suggested.
